ONA election logo revamp

Student Logo Design Project
Brief

Redesign a logo of an existing company or organizations logo.

Goals & Purposes

The Downtown Association is a Business Improvement Area (BIA) organization that allows business and commercial property owners and tenants from Queen Street East (from Pim to Dennis) to join together to better the BIA. With the support of the City of Sault Ste Marie, the Downtown Association works with members to organize, finance, and carry out physical improvements and promote economic development in our district.

The Downtown Association’s vision is to make the BIA a unique place to experience a dynamic community that is vibrant, healthy and a prosperous destination where people want to be and want to invest. The Downtown Association’s mission is to deliver value to its members, to be a catalyst for and support them in creating a self-empowered downtown that thrives through the activation of its spaces, places and people.

The design

The Downtown Associations logo is designed to represent downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The top arch is the International Bridge to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; it is a city landmark and a symbol for the connections that the Downtown Association builds with the community and investors. The buildings in the middle are inspired by buildings along Queen Street, the heart of the downtown core, including the iconic Sault Ste. Marie Museum with its clock tower. At the bottom are waves representing the St. Mary’s River that the Sault is built along.
